FYI: Toronto Hydro Capital Rebuild
Starting next month, Toronto Hydro will be rebuilding the underground electrical system in some areas of our Ward. Residents that will be affected should expect to receive the following letter from Toronto Hydro:
Dear Valued Customer,
Toronto Hydro is planning to rebuild a section of the underground electrical system in your neighbourhood. The project is scheduled to begin early next month. We are doing this to improve the electricity system reliability in your neighbourhood. The existing system is nearing the end of its life expectancy and so these projects will improve service and reliability and reduce the frequency of outages.
During the design stage of this project, we assessed your neighbourhood and identified where and how the new system will be upgraded. The electrical system is made up of underground cables and transformers, delivering electricity to the street and then to each home. Electricity is delivered via these cables to transformers in underground vaults.
The proposed work will involve the replacement of the existing electrical cables in front of or adjacent to the properties in your neighbourhood. Toronto Hydro and its contracted suppliers will take all reasonable care to protect the area during the construction of this project. We will repair and/or replace any damage to the area.
Please be advised that the proposed underground work has been discussed and approved by the property manager for your York Condominium Corporation.
